Gorgon

A very unusual game with unusual sprites. I think it's quite an accomplishment when an LCD game is so complicated that it is almost impossible to figure out how it works without having the manual. It took me a long time, but I finally figured it out! It's not only complicated but also extremely difficult to complete a level even once. The game has quite an ingenious design. It consists of 5 levels.

First you evade the giant stomping feet when you walk from the bottom left to the drawbridge, which is of course sometimes closed. The best strategy in this part is actually to run with your eyes closed and hoping that you reach the bridge, evading the feet is so difficult it can be frustrating.

Once you're inside you have to kill some monster in the dungeon which emerges from time to time, when you're standing at the beginning he can grab you so you have to jump and hang on to the ceiling, of which you will fall down after a few seconds automatically, when the monster goes underground you have to search in the ground for your sword, sometimes you can find it in one try, sometimes you have to look for it a few times. Only when you've found your sword you can climb the ceiling further to the right to which you can now keep on hanging. Sometimes a skeleton will appear hanging down from the ceiling, preventing you from proceeding to the right. The monster can still grab you and when he's near you have to push 'up' so that your legs will be raised preventing the monster from grabing your feet. You keep this up until the monster decides to move further to the right so that you can jump and attack him.

When you've killed the monster you can climb up to the second level to the right of the screen, you'll have to face Medusa herself in this one. Wait for her to hide behind the pillars and run to the left, grab the mirror which is hanging from the pillar, and now wait for Medusa to come after you. Jump in front of her pressing 'attack' so that she will look in the mirror and will turn to stone by her own eyes, her head will even come off... they really got their classics right, here!

Put the mirror back and climb further up to the roof, when you stand to the left most position of the roof, your magic sword will brighten and call for Pegasus, once he's landed on the roof, wait for him to raise his legs and run to the right of him, then press 'jump' and 'action' at the same time to jump on his back. When you miss Pegasus, fortunately you don't die, you just fall of him and can call him again with your magic sword, until your luck runs out.

After finally taming Pegasus you'll fly away on his back. You now have to wait for the Giant to lower his arms and move in to hit him. You can hit him on the head or in his side. After that, use your magic sword again to free your loved one (I'm sure she's a classical figure as well), who was hanging from a cliff to the upper left all this time, and fly off into the distance...

They really put some work in this one, and it doesn't really fit in the usual handheld LCD genre, it has undoubtedly very varied gameplay, but it is a little bit too difficult to play, when you die you have to start all the way over again, and it takes a lot of practice to complete a scene even once...still a very brave attempt at trying something new.
