Junior has to rescue his father again in this sequel. At the bottom screen he
has to jump for the key first, which throws it a screen higher, the snapjaws
at the bottom level must be avoided or jumped over, when jumping you have to
avoid the sparks from above as well. The second level has sparks both above
and below that must be avoided.
The
top screen has snapjaws at the bottom again and the key has to be jumped for
once more at the left of the screen, the key will end up with one of the four
locks that are holding Senior prisoner, the three levels in the four chains
where you can climb up to the locks are inhabited by fierce birds, don't let
them hit you. You cannot, as is usual in most Donkey Kong Junior games, jump
from one chain to another you have to get down to the ground first, this is
quite annoying. When you reach the lock which has the key in it, it will be
opened and after all four locks have been removed, Senior jumps down and Junior
catches him! Somewhat unusual in this game is the fact that after you've opened
a lock, you have to get back to your startposition, to get a new key, which
means going all the way back down and up again, instead of being warped to the
beginning position. This maybe original and even realistic in some way, but
it is annoying nonetheless. Fair game, but the single screen Donkey
Kong Jr. shouldn't have been meddled with in my opinion...
